Ledecky wins 800m freestyle, sets world record

American teenager Katie Ledecky on Saturday set her second world record at the 15th FINA world championships as she
won the 800m freestyle.
Ledecky, 16, who also won gold in the 400m and 1,500m freestyle
events, as well as the 4x200m freestyle relay, finished first in
8:13.36 - 0.74 faster than the old mark set by Rebecca Adlington in
Beijing in 2008
In a repeat of the 1,500m final, Dane Lotte Friis took silver,
while the bronze went to New Zealand's Lauren Boyle.
It was the third world record broken in the Palau Sant Jordi on
Saturday and the sixth overall. 16-year-old Ruta Meilutyte set a new
mark in the semi-finals of the women's 50m breaststroke, beating the
mark Yuliya Efimova had set earlier Saturday in the heats.
