Teenager Missy Franklin continued her gold medal haul at the 15th FINA world championships as she anchored the US 4x200m freestyle relay to victory Thursday, dpa reported. Franklin was on line for an unprecedented eight gold medals at the world championships, but withdrew from the women's 50m backstroke semi-finals on Wednesday. The 18-year-old, who took over in second place, won gold with teammates Katie Ledecky, Shannon Vreeland and Karlee Bispo in seven minutes, 45.14 minutes. Second place went to Australia, 1.94 seconds behind, while France finished in the bronze medal position. It was Franklin's fourth gold medal in the Palau Sant Jordi pool, having earlier won individual gold in the 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke, as well as the 4x100m freestyle relay. Ledecky, who is two years younger than Franklin, has now won gold in the 400m and 1,500m freestyle, as well as in the 4x200m relay.
