Pakistan on Saturday condemned "unprovoked" firing by Indian troops that killed one of its soldiers, as the two countries exchanged heavy fire across a de-facto border dividing the disputed Kashmir region, dpa reported. The soldier was killed and another seriously injured in firing by Indian troops across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rawlakot sector of Kashmir, said a Pakistani military spokesman, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa. "Pakistan strongly condemns the unprovoked firing by Indian soldiers," the Foreign Ministry said. "It is unfortunate that such an incident should have taken place at a time when the two governments are making sincere efforts towards improving relations for resolution of all outstanding disputes." Pakistan also asked Indian to investigate "this grave incident" and ensure it does not happened again. An Indian Army source said Pakistani troops had fired at an Indian border post in the Poonch sector, which borders Pakistan's Rawlakot. "They used heavy weaponry," the Indian official said. "Our soldiers retaliated. There have been no casualty on our side." Both sides accused each other of "unprovoked" firing. -- SPA 20:31 LOCAL TIME 17:31 GMT تغريد
