Pakistan's army alleged Sunday that the Indian forces had violated the border ceasefire and attacked a checkpoint in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, killing one soldier and injuring another. The early morning incident occurred at Line of Control (LoC) in Haji Pir sector of Bagh district in 'Azad' (Pakistan administered) Kashmir, Pakistani military spokesman Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa was quoted as saying by DPA. "Indian troops physically raided a Pakistani check post named Sawan Patra, while an effective response from Pakistani soldiers resulted in the repulsion of the attack," he said. "Two of our soldiers were critically injured in the attack. One of them succumbed to injuries later." Bajwa said Indian troops retreated and left behind a gun and a dagger. The exchange of fire across LoC was continuing. An Indian army spokesman in Kashmir rejected the accusations and said Pakistani forces had "initiated unprovoked firing" at Indian posts early Sunday morning. "There was heavy firing with mortar shells and automatic weapons at our positions in which at least one civilian home was destroyed," Indian army spokesman Colonel Brijesh Pandey said.
