U.S. President Barack Obama will host Yemeni President Abdo Rabbu Mansour Hadi at the White House on August 1, White House spokesman Jay Carney said Thursday. "The visit will highlight the strength of the U.S.-Yemeni relationship and underscore the United States' ongoing support for Yemen's political transition," Carney said in a statement. "The President looks forward to discussing with President Hadi U.S. efforts to enhance democratic governance and support economic development in Yemen, further strengthen our counter-terrorism partnership, and enable the return of Yemeni detainees at Guantanamo Bay who have been designated for transfer."
