The Palestinians and Israel have reached an agreement which establishes the basis for resuming peace talks, US Secretary of State John Kerry has announced on Friday. Kerry told reporters during a press conference at the Queen Alia International Airport in Amman that the parties had "reached an agreement that establishes a basis for resuming direct final status negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis." Palestinian and Israeli negotiators would meet him in Washington "to begin initial talks within the next week or so," Jordan News Agency (Petra) quoted Kerry as saying.
