The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas Thursday, in a cable, congratulated Adli Mansour on his new appointment as Egypt's interim president. He said: "In my own name and on behalf of the Palestinian people and their leadership, I congratulate you on assuming the leadership of Egypt at this transitional point of its history, and I appeal to God to help you to shoulder the responsibility in this critical period to achieve the hopes of the brotherly Egyptian People in achieving freedom, dignity and stability." He also praised the role played by the Egyptian armed forces headed by General Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, in preserving Egypt's security and preventing it from sliding to an unknown fate, valuing the role by the Egyptian people who rose up to save Egypt and set a future plan for it in these critical moments. Abbas emphasized the Palestinian people's support to the Egyptian people, who embraced the Palestinian cause and sacrificed for it, according to Palestinian News and Information Agency "WAFA."
