Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met here today with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. This meeting comes as part of Kerry's efforts to revive the peace process. Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that Abbas affirmed the Palestinian national fixed positions regarding the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital based on the 1967 borders, and the release of prisoners. Kerry informed Abbas on his exerted efforts, including his calls with the Israeli side. He stressed that he will continue with these efforts to follow up on some issues that have not been resolved yet. U.S. Secretary of State affirmed a progress in talks made with the Palestinian and Israeli leaders to resume the peace talks.
