Mongolia's President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj was Thursday on track to win the previous day's ballot, a news report said. Elbegdorj, the poll favourite and candidate of the ruling Democratic Party, won 50 per cent of the votes cast Wednesday, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported, citing the preliminary count released by election officials. The incumbent's party is seen as relatively open to foreign investment in the exploitation of Mongolia's wealth of copper, gold, coal and rare earths.
