Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed that ending the Syrian crisis requires a firm stand and quick international action, saying that there is no justification or sense that allows Russia to publicly and feverishly arm the Syria regime along with the foreign troops backing the regime. He also underlined the importance of providing international protection, at least in arms aid, for the Syrian people to enable them to defend themselves against these heinous crimes being committed against them. Prince Saud's remarks came during a joint meeting he held at the Conference Palace in Jeddah today with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Prince Saud said "The most serious developments on the Syrian arena include the involvement of foreign forces, represented by Hezbollah militia and others supported by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, in killing the Syrians with unlimited support by Russian weapons." Prince Saud considered this a serious matter in the crisis that cannot be tolerated or condoned in any way as it means that the genocide practiced by the regime against its own people turns into a foreign invasion that negates all international laws, norms and principles. Such a foreign invasion converts the Syrian land into an arena for international and regional conflicts, making it subject to sectarian and religious conflicts. Now, Syria can only be considered an occupied territory. Prince Saud welcomed U.S. Secretary of State and the accompanying delegation, describing his third visit to the region as "a Reflection of his personal keenness on the region's issues as well as on the interests of the U.S. and those of its friends." --More 18:15 LOCAL TIME 15:15 GMT تغريد
