The United States on Monday condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on tourists in the northern Pakistan, where nine foreign tourists and a Pakistani guide were reportedly shot dead on June 23. "Our condolences go out to the loved ones affected by this senseless violence," State Department deputy spokesman Patrick Ventrell said during the daily press briefing. "We can confirm that there was an American citizen killed in the terrorist attack," Ventrell told reporters. On Sunday, media sources reported that the gunmen stormed a mountaineering base-camp in northern Pakistan and killed nine tourists—five Ukrainians, three Chinese, and one Russian—and a Pakistani tour-guide.
