The United State on Monday called the U.S.-Cuba coastal talks—which will resume this week on restarting direct mail service between the two countries—a "positive" step forward. "This is something that the United States has felt would be a positive step for the Cuban people. We felt it was in our interest," State Department spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki told reporters. "It is something that we are very supportive of and we are of course helping direct here," Psaki added.
