With the thumping sound of samba music filling the National Stadium and thousands of fans dressed in yellow watching from the stands, the 2013 Confederations Cup opened Saturday in Brasilia. According to AP, dancers paraded around the field to blaring music while flags waved from all eight participating countries in the World Cup warm-up tournament. The ceremony started about 90 minutes before kickoff of the two-week event's first match, between host Brazil and Asian champion Japan. Besides Brazil and Japan, Italy and Mexico are also in Group A. Spain, Uruguay, Nigeria and Tahiti are in Group B.
