Saudi newspapers' editorials for today highlighted a number of current issues. Al-Bilad newspaper hailed the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz for dialogue among followers of religions and civilizations. Al-Riyadh newspaper commented on ramifications of the issue of the construction of the Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia and its dangerous effect on Egypt and Sudan. Al-Watan newspaper wrote about the escalating demonstrations in Turkey for the fifth day in a row. On Syria, Okaz newspaper called for unity of opinion and attitude to support the Syrian opposition revolutionists while Al-Yaum newspaper criticized Russian support for the Syrian regime. On the Iraqi scene, Al-Madinah newspaper called for holding the national dialogue conference called by President Jalal Talabani about two years ago and deplored that it has not been held yet. Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted remarks by Hamas leader Dr. Ahmed Yousef asserting that the events in Syria are a revolution and not a plot against the ruling regime as Iran claims.
