Tropical Storm Barbara hit Mexico's Pacific coast Wednesday, causing at least two deaths, and was briefly upgraded to hurricane level, officials said. An estimated 14 fishermen were also unaccounted for at sea. A US citizen, 51, drowned while surfing in the strong waves off the state's port city of Salina Cruz, a spokesman for Oaxaca Civil Protection Agency told dpa. An unnamed 26-year-old man died when he was swept away by a swollen river near Pinotepa Nacional, a smaller town around 20 kilometres further inland.
