The oldest living person in the United States celebrated her 114th birthday in Michigan, UPI reported. Jeralean Talley, who turned 114 Thursday, was honored Sunday at a church in Inkster when the congregation sang "Happy Birthday" and recognized her as the oldest living person in the United States, the Detroit News reported Monday. "I'm just thankful," Talley said during the celebration. Family members said Talley, the third-oldest person in the world, went fishing the day before her birthday and caught seven fish, the Detroit Free Press reported. Talley received several letters of recognition in honor of her birthday, including one from President Barack Obama. Obama hailed the woman as "part of an extraordinary generation." "This generation continues to guide us with its wisdom and inspire us," Obama wrote.
