A wave of youth unrest that has gripped Stockholm's predominantly immigrant suburbs for six consecutive days has spread to two other Swedish cities, police said Saturday. The most serious violence occurred in Orebo, where at least two dozen youths, some wearing masks, threw stones at police and torched five vehicles and part of a school. A police station was also vandalized in the city, which is located about 200 kilometres west of the capital, according to a report of DPA. In Linkoping, 200 kilometres south-west of Stockholm, police said there were reports of 11 fires that mainly targeted vehicles and two school buildings. No arrests were made. In the greater Stockholm area, the overall situation was being described Saturday as "calmer," despite the fact that firefighters had to respond to 30 fires.
