An investigation into a 1944 Nazi massacre in the Tuscan hill town of Sant 'Anna di Stazzema, which left 560 dead, will not be pursued, the chief public prosecutor in Stuttgart said Tuesday, according to dpa. It would not open investigations into the killings, it said inrejecting a complaint filed by a survivor. The man could still turn to the regional appeals court in Karlsruhe in his attempt to bring the massacre charges before acourt. Five people who allegedly took part in the massacre are stillalive, according to the prosecutor's office. However, it could not be proven that several of them were at the scene of the August 12, 1944, massacre, while the roles of others in the killings was unclear, it said. Whether the killings were planned by the SS and other military units as an extermination action could also not be proven, the office said. -- SPA 23:18 LOCAL TIME 20:18 GMT تغريد
