A Turkish F-16 fighter jet went missing near the border with Syria on Monday, the army said. According to dpa, the Turkish army added that the jet went missing at 2:15 pm (1115 GMT) in the southern area of Amansolar in the province of Osmaniye. It said contact with the pilot was lost shortly after he said: "I'm going to jump." According to dpa, a search-and-rescue operation was launched, the statement said. The Anadolu news agency reported that the military plane had crashed.
