A military helicopter that went missing during a rescue mission in the eastern province of Papua had made contact, officials said Sunday. Mimika Air Transport Office Chief John Rettob said the helicopter landed in the mountains and had resumed radio contact, Antara news agency reported. The chopper with five crew flew from Timika to search for two victims of an air crash in Wamena. Rettob did not explain the reason for the emergency landing but bad weather in the area had hindered search-and-rescue operations. A cargo plane flown by an Australian pilot and a Slovenian co-pilot crashed in Papua on Friday. The aircraft was carrying food and fuel and when it went down in Wamena district. The two pilots were the only people on board, police was quoted as saying by the German Press Agency "DPA".
