The Central American countries of Honduras and El Salvador separately signed joint communiqué for the establishment of diplomatic relations with the State of Palestine, said the Palestinian Foreign Ministry Saturday. The signing came during a tour of Foreign Minister Riyad Malki to a number of Central American countries, including Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Panama. Malki and his Honduran counterpart, Mireya Aguero de Corrales, signed the communiqué in Tegucigalpa on Saturday and discussed ways to develop relations and future cooperation. Malki met with Honduran President Porfirio Lobos at the presidential palace and thanked him for the recognition of the State of Palestine and vote in favor of the Palestinian bid at the UN in November of last year. Malki signed on Friday a similar communiqué with his Salvadoran counterpart Hugo Martinez for the establishment of diplomatic relations between El Salvador and the State of Palestine, according to a report the State of Palestine News Agency "WAFA."
