South Korean and Chinese diplomats are to address the security situation on the Korean Peninsula during talks in Beijing, UPI quoted a South Korean official as saying. South Korean nuclear envoy Lim Sung-nam left Wednesday for Beijing to speak with his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei. "The two sides plan to share their assessments of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula and discuss the full range of North Korea issues," a foreign ministry official told South Korean news agency Yonhap on condition of anonymity. China is seen as key player in reducing tensions on the Korean Peninsula. North Korea's test in February of a nuclear device has rattled the U.S. and South Korean militaries. Lim left South Korea the day after U.S. and South Korean forces ended a two-month military drill in the region. North Korea said it viewed those drills as an act of aggression. Lim served as the South Korean envoy to six-party talks aimed at addressing North Korea's nuclear ambitions. The last round of talks was in 2009.
