The Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani has condemned the statements of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran Ali Khamenei against the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people during the "Muslim Scholars and Islamic Awakening" conference, held in Iran recently. Dr. Al-Zayani dismissed the statements as reprehensible fallacies and a blatant interference in the domestic affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in breach of the principles of the Islamic Religion and the good-neighbourly relations, as well as the international law. He said that the "situation in Bahrain is an internal affair, and no other country, including Iran, has the right to tackle it," stressing the free Bahraini people is fully capable of addressing its problems by itself, away from the blatant interference of Iran which has always sought to sow division among the members of the Bahraini people. Dr. Al-Zayani expressed regret over Iranian officials' raising of the slogan of "Islamic Awakening" at a time when many countries in the region suffer from the policies of the Iranian regime based on spreading obnoxious sectarian thought, setting up terror and espionage cells, fueling tensions and undermining security. The GCC Secretary General expressed surprise at Khamenei's talk about injustice, deprivation and rights, while his own people, the Islamic People of Iran, as the whole world knows, is reeling under a tragic situation in all fields, and its minorities are oppressed, marginalized and deprived of their basic human rights guaranteed by all monotheistic religions and international norms. He added that Khamenei, at the same time, does not hesitate to provide all kinds of support for a regime that kills its people, using all kinds of deadly weapons.
