Jordanian King Abdullah II met here today a visiting delegation of U.S. Congressional aides. During the meeting, they reviewed the latest situation in Syria and the growing burdens on Jordan's limited resources due to the huge influx of Syrian refugees into Jordan. King Abdullah II reiterated the need for finding a political transition solution to stop the bloodshed in Syria, while safeguarding Syria's unity and averting the dangerous fallout on the region from the continuation of the crisis. On efforts to bring about peace in the region, King Abdullah II stressed the importance of U.S. leadership in this regard and the necessity for stepped up world efforts to jump-start Palestinian-Israeli peace talks based upon the two-state solution - an independent Palestinian state living in peace alongside Israel.
