The Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani opened here today a training workshop on Pre-Disaster Recovery Planning, organized by the GCC Center for Emergency Management in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. Delegations of GCC member states participated in the workshop. In a speech during the workshop, Dr. Al-Zayani said "The provision of a safe, stable and prosperous environment for GCC countries comes at the top of priorities of GCC Leaders." "The workshop comes in the wake of earthquakes that hit the Islamic Republic of Iran recently and affected the region's countries," Dr. Al-Zayani said, adding that the GCC countries have contingency plans that are ready to face such risks.
