Japan lifted its grounding of Boeing Co's 787 Dreamliner after problems with its batteries kept the worldwide fleet from taking to the air for the past three months, the Transport Ministry said Friday. The decision followed the move by the US Federal Aviation Administration to allow the Dreamliners to resume flights Friday after solutions were found to the battery failures. All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL) were expected to resume commercial flights of their Dreamliners around June after test flights by both operators. The ministry was also to ask both the airlines to apply voluntary safety measures to restore public trust. ANA and JAL together operate 24 of the 50 Dreamliners in operation and have begun installing modified lithium-ion battery systems in their fleets.
