A peacekeeper with the joint United Nations-African Union mission in Darfur, Sudan, was killed Friday by unknown assailants, dpa reported. One peacekeeper was shot dead while two others were injured in the attack in eastern Darfur. "Any attack on international peacekeepers is a crime under international law," said the peacekeeping mission, known as UNAMID. No further details were immediately available.
