During a meeting with Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi, the European Union's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on Sunday discussed Egypt's democratic transition, state media reported. The two also discussed EU economic aid to Egypt, the website of the state-run newspaper Al-Ahram quoted an unnamed source at Morsi's office as saying. Ashton was due later in the day to meet with leaders of the opposition, including the Nobel Peace Prize winner Mohammed El-Baradei, the EU delegation in Egypt said. Ashton had earlier said she would "work hard in Cairo to engage with all parties to help build confidence and find common ground on both political and economic issues."
