The civil defense teams extinguished a large fire which broke out today morning in the markets of 'Haram Plaza' in eastern Riyadh. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) today, the Spokesman of the Directorate of Civil Defense in Riyadh Captain Mohammed bin Malfi Al-Hammadi said the fire which engulfed a two-storey building covering an area of 5120 meters was put out before shifting to the neighbouring markets or buildings, affirming that there were no dead or injured people and noting that the losses were only material and that investigations were underway to probe into the causes of the fire. The Spokesman pointed out that the civil defence units which extinguished the fire comprised 12 fire extinguishing teams, 10 support units, 5 rescue teams, a helicopter, and an emergency civil defense force.
