The Civil Defense in Riyadh on Tuesday used 70 firefighters and a helicopter to douse a huge fire which gutted 49 timber and charcoal warehouses near Al-Mansouryia District. No loss of lives was reported. First Lieutenant Muhammad Malfi Al-Hamadi, a spokesman of the Civil Defense in Riyadh, said strong winds spread the fire. He said the operation room had received a distress call about a huge fire at a warehouse near Al-Mansouryia District. The strong wind spread the fire to 48 other warehouses. There are 200 warehouses in the area. He said that due to the intensity of the fire, the Civil Defense Administration had sent a further 11 firefighters teams, three rescue teams, a number of foam vehicles and a helicopter. He said the teams managed to contain the fire and prevent it spreading further. He said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
