Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was to begin a two-day visit to Sudan on Thursday, his first to the country since taking office in July, dpa reported. Morsi will hold talks with his Sudanese counterpart, Omar al-Bashir, on strengthening cooperation between the two neighbouring countries, the Egyptian presidency said. Al-Bashir has visited Egypt several times. He last met Morsi in Cairo in September. One of the key issues that brings Egypt and Sudan together is the use of the River Nile waters, since existing international agreements give them the lion's share. Egypt's agriculture depends almost entirely on the Nile, and the two countries are resisting attempts by upstream states such as Ethiopia to renegotiate such agreements.
