U.S. President Barack Obama held talks with visiting Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore on Tuesday, and both leaders highlighted the partnership between the two countries on military, economic, and other matters in Asia. "Singapore is one of the most successful countries in the world," and it is "an outstanding economic partner," President Obama told reporters at the White House. For his part, Lee said, "Singapore is very happy that the U.S. under the Obama administration has been putting greater emphasis on its relations with Asia, that it's rebalancing towards Asia, and that it's engaging Asia across many fronts, not just security but also economic, also cultural, also educational. Singapore would like to be of help in furthering this process and deepening its relationship."
