Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai will visit Qatar and discuss the possible opening of a Taliban office in the Gulf state, the foreign ministry said on Sunday. Foreign Ministry spokesman Janan Mosazai said Karzai will discuss the issue with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani during an official visit whose stated purpose is the opening of a Qatari embassy in Kabul and trade and business opportunities. Mosazai did not say when the visit will take place, but it is expected within weeks, according to a report of the Associated Press. He said talks with the emir of Qatar will also include "the peace process in Afghanistan and the discussion will include the opening of a Taliban office."
