In U.S. economic news, the government reported early Friday that 236,000 jobs were added to the economy in February, and the unemployment rate dropped to 7.7 percent. In international economic news, revised data showed that Japan's economy has pulled out of a shallow recession. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 67.58, or 0.47 percent, to 14,397.07. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 6.92, or 0.45 percent, to 1,551.18. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index moved up 12.28, or 0.38 percent, to 3,244.37.
