Major Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, security spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, stressed that the leadership in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keenness of the detainees in the terrorist issues and accelerates relevant measures, pointing out that dealing with Buraidah's events was based on the laws. During a press conference held last night in Buraidah, Al-Turki made an appeal to people to maintain peace and harmony in the country and ignore rumors, confirming that the security men are responsible to implement laws. The security spokesman added that it is illegal to announce the names of detainees and accused people in the Kingdom. He added that this matter made it easy for spreading rumors through exploiting those issues to destabilize security and stability in the Kingdom. "Those people who spread rumors seek destabilizing security and stability in the Kingdom and weakening the strong relation between the citizens and security men," Al-Turki said. Al-Turki said only 2,772 people are behind bars in the Kingdom, 2,221 Saudis and 551 from 41 Arab and foreign countries. He added 178 detainees were arrested due to riots in Qatif while 247 detainees are still under investigation. He stressed that there is no gap between the detainees and their families. In a reply to a question regarding the laws banning announcement of detainees' names, Al-Turki said that the laws consider the announcement as a defamation which is legal through issuing adjudication. He added that the relevant authorities at the Ministry of Interior discuss with the judicial authorities to reconsider this matter. --More 22:20 LOCAL TIME 19:20 GMT تغريد
