A Palestinian prisoner who died in Israeli custody did not expire from a heart attack, as was claimed, but from torture, Palestinian officials said Sunday, after an autopsy had been carried out on the corpse, dpa reported. Saber Aloul, chief pathologist of the Palestinian Authority, who attended the autopsy in Israel, said marks on Arafat Jaradat's body showed he had been tortured during his interrogation. There was no sign of heart failure, Aluol said. Jaradat's death Saturday in Megiddo Prison sparked clashes throughout the West Bank Sunday.
