Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa won Sunday's presidential election with 56.85 per cent of the votes, according to the first official results released by electoral authorities. With 30 per cent of the ballots counted, the closest of Correa's seven rivals, Guillermo Lasso, obtained 24.09 per cent of the votes. If final official results confirm these figures, Correa will have achieved re-election in a single round of voting and the run-off scheduled for April 7 will not be necessary, according to a report of DPA.
