The Peninsula Shield-9 maneuvers were launched today in the State of Kuwait with the participation of Saudi land, air, naval and air defense forces as well as those of the other Gulf Cooperation Council states. The exercises focus on implementing several joint training operations within the system of joint defense of the land, air, sea and air defense forces of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council. It also aims at activating and highlighting the cohesion and military cooperation, the application of the defense strategy of the GCC countries, development of the sense of collective security and unity and promotion of the spirit of brotherhood among the brothers in the GCC countries. The GCC is comprised of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
