On behalf of Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Prince Dr. Turki bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Relations, will open an international conference to promote counter-terrorism collaboration between national, regional and international centers and initiatives. The conference will be held in Riyadh on February 16, 2013. The two-day conference is a co-operation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations Centre for Counter-Terrorism (UNCCT) and Implementation Task Force in the fight against terrorism. Four sessions of the conference will discuss the four pillars of the basic strategy of international counter-terrorism. The four key pillars are: measures to address the conditions conducive to the spread of terrorism; measures to prevent and combat terrorism; measures to build the States' capacity to prevent and combat terrorism and to strengthen the role of UN system; and measures to ensure respect for human rights for all the rule of law as the fundamental basis of the fight against terrorism. Participants at the conference include representatives of the Member States of the Conference Advisory Board of UNCCT as well as representatives from 21 countries from the European Union, and 28 global centers. The United Nations will be an observer at the conference.
