Jordanian King Abdullah II met here today with the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy. During the meeting, they discussed relations between Jordan and the WTO and means of further boosting them within the strategic partnership between the two sides. King Abdullah II said that Jordan's commitment to agreement signed within world trade, reflects Jordan's trade policies based on adopting a package of legislation to conform to world market requirements. Jordan, he said, is interested in increasing representation of the Arab region in the WTO, highlighting the need to give developing countries and other countries with small economies preferential treatment in negotiations to join the organization to enable them to benefit from international trade revenues.
