Six people died in a gas cylinder explosion in the city of Syktyvkar on Sunday night. The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations reported that the blast occurred in a ferroconcrete one-storied building (the former warehouse) re-equipped into dwelling quarters for construction workers. The flames had spread over 20 square meters and there was thick smoke by the time the fist fire crew arrived at the scene, Itar-Tass reported. Thirteen builders were saved. It took two hours to extinguish the fire. Thirty-six firefighters and 12 vehicles were called in to fight the flame.
