The United States on Thursday condemned the Syrian regime for shelling civilian areas and called for those responsible to be held accountable. “We again condemn the regime's indiscriminate aerial bombing of civilians. This violates every tenet of international law, and we call for the perpetrators to be held accountable," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters. There are reports that there are intense clashes over the last two days in the Damascus neighborhoods of Hajar al-Aswad, Jobar, and Zamalka, Nuland said.
