The United States condemned a suicide attack in Damascus that killed 55 people, the U.S. State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in a statement that “any and all violence that results in the indiscriminate killing and injury of civilians is reprehensible and cannot be justified.” She called on Syria's government to accept a U.N. peace plan to prevent escalating violence.
