Nissan Motor Co said Friday its net profit in the October-to-December quarter fell 34.6 per cent from a year earlier to 54.1 billion yen (579.8 million dollars) amid the eurozone crisis and Japan's strained ties with China over territorial spat, dpa reported. Nissan logged a net profit of 82.7 billion yen in the same period in 2011. The carmaker also reported a 47.4-per-cent drop in operating profit to 62.1 billion yen in the quarter while sales declined 5.3 per cent to 2.21 trillion yen. Nissan maintained its net profit outlook at 320 billion yen for the current financial year to March 31. The carmaker said its global sales in the October-to-December quarter declined 3.8 per cent from a year earlier to 1.16 million vehicles.
