Indonesia's economy expanded 6.2 per cent in 2012, driven by strong domestic consumption and investment, the Central Bureau of Statistics said Tuesday. The rate fell short of the government's forecasts of 6.5-6.3 per cent, partly because exports fell amid weakening global demand, the bureau was quoted as saying by DPA. Growth in the fourth quarter of 2012 was 6.1 per cent. South-East Asia's largest economy grew 6.5 per cent in 2011.
