Faisal indicated that there are specific proposals about them in the address of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the summit. The Prince said that the Arab region has all geographical, climatic and economic optimal factors for the development of local sustainable and pioneering industry in the field of renewable energy, and therefore the exploitation of available renewable energy sources and the transfer of technologies for manufacturing their equipment to the Arab countries are strategic options for the Arab region to ensure the provision and diversification of energy sources and the establishment of the foundations of the industry and its regulations in the Arab world in an effort to market it at the regional level in the first instance and then on a global scale at a later stage. The Prince went on to say this is adopted by the Arab strategy for the development of renewable energy uses that will be put up for adoption before Riyadh Economic and Social Development Summit which looks forward to the future horizons for the Arab world and seeks to meet the aspirations of the Arab citizens in the overall development. The Prince pointed out that the strategy included mechanisms for the participation of the private sector more effectively in investment in renewable energy projects and to propose appropriate sources of funding that contribute to building Arab market for renewable energy as well as an executive action plan for programs and activities that are commensurate with the priorities set by Arab countries. He said that non-communicable diseases topped by cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and chronic respiratory diseases form developmental challenges and a significant burden on economies and health systems in the Arab countries. The Prince pointed out that the World Health Organization (WHO) statistics for 2010 showed that deaths from non-communicable diseases ranged in the Arab countries between 27% to 84% of the total deaths. The Prince stressed that Arab Human being represents the primary goal of the desired development and therefore Riyadh Economic and Social Development Summit has paid great attention to the subject of addressing non-communicable diseases in the Arab world. --More
