A Norwegian hostage at the Algerian In Amenas gas complex was brought to safety in the early hours of Friday, energy company Statoil said, though the fate of eight other Norwegian hostages remained unknown, dpa reported. The man was being treated in hospital, a Statoil spokesman told television station tv2, though he did not give any further details of his health or how he had been freed. Staoil chartered a flight late Thursday to bring four freed hostages and 40 other employees from Algeria to London.
