About 40 foreign nationals are being held hostage at a gas facility in southern Algeria, two Algerian news reports said Wednesday. According to dpa, El Watan newspaper reported that 41 foreigners - including US, Japanese, French and British nationals - were being held by Islamist gunmen at the compound near the In Amenas gas field since early Wednesday. The editor of the Dernieres Nouvelles d'Algerie (DNA) newspaper told France's BFM TV that his sources also spoke of "around 40" hostages.
