A 4.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Ilan county in Taiwan at 4:30 p.m. Thursday Beijing Time, the China Earthquake Networks Center said. The epicenter was monitored at 24.5 degrees north latitude and 122.1 degrees east longitude with a depth of 9 km, Xinhua quoted the center as saying. According to the island's meteorological authorities, the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.8, and the epicenter was monitored to be 33 kilometers southeast to the county government seat. There has been no immediate reports of casualties or property losses on the island.
