An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted the sea off Taiwan's eastern coast at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday local time, the island's meteorological department said. The epicenter, located at some 64.8 km east to Hualien County, was monitored at 24 degrees north latitude and 122.26 degrees east longitude, Xinhua quoted the department as saying. The quake struck at a depth of 47.9 km. No casualty or property loss has been reported from the quake.
